VoxPop 2008

Workshops

Prior to County VoxPop each local Youth Council held a conference to identify the top three priorities for their area, these priorities were fed back to CYCLe to form CYCLe’s priorities for the year. Attending members were asked to pick two of these priorities to work on in the workshops during the day. The priorities were Transport, Crime and Safety, and Facilities.

The aim of each workshop was to identify three aims, within the given priority, for CYCLe to work on for 2008-09. Each workshop was delivered by young people from the local youth councils. The workshops used a Diamond exercise to group and order their suggestions in groups, and then as a workshop. They also thought of related questions that they could ask the panel in the afternoon. The chosen priorities were:

  • Transport
    • Reduced fares for under 18s,
    • More buses, evenings and weekends, and
    • Inspecting buses to ensure safety.
  • Crime and Safety
    • Anti-social Behaviour,
    • Bullying, and
    • Drugs / Alcohol abuse (including under age drinking).
  • Facilities
    • Access to facilities (transport, opening times, prices),
    • New facilities, and
    • Improvements to existing facilities.
