How are the County Council going to make sure that all Young People can reach a youth centre or another facility?
We need to speak to young people and the youth councils to get a better picture of what is wanted.
There is not much to do in Barwell but there are lots of abandoned buildings, could these be turned in to facilities?
Is there a budget to improve facilities, if not why not?
There is money to keep facilities running. There are also other pots of money (like YOF) that can be used.
Put more Youth Workers out there.
Unfortunately there are not enough resources to do that. There are lots of part time job vacancies that older Young People and Adults can get into.
Young People don’t all want Xboxes and bowling trips every week. Some sofa’s and maybe a DVD player, somewhere to chat without parents around. “Independent Living Room”
Trevor spoke about running a youth club from the back of a Pub. The pub owner made loads of money, it was great for the Young People and very Community oriented.
As Leicestershire is highly rural, do you have any plans to increase funding for transport and facilities in isolated villages?
Some evening services are provided. Young People say they’re enthusiastic but service running to Loughborough Leisure Centre wasn’t used.
What results do you want from the voucher pilot scheme? Is there anything we can do to help?
Use the scheme 100%. We need to know if it is useful and if you want it. We will be sending a letter to all the Young People in the pilot areas.
Is there any way you can make Borough Councils talk to us about what they are planning?
Do adults see Young People as ‘baddies’? What do adults want to see Young People as?
We want to see you as yourselves. Don’t let the media worry you. Councillors get just as bad press. You’re a fantastic example of the next generation, just be yourselves!
