In 2011 the UK Youth Parliament carried out a nationwide poll of over 65,000 young people – remember the link on 'The Jitty'? The results of this poll identified the top five issues of concern for young people in the United Kingdom today, which were:

  1. 'Make Public Transport Cheaper, Better and Accessible for All'
  2. 'No to Tuition Fees, Yes to Graduate Tax'
  3. 'Zero Tolerance towards Bullying in Schools'
  4. 'End Child Poverty'
  5. 'A Greener Future forBritain'

Then on 4th November 2011, at an event to mark the finale of Parliament Week, members of the UK Youth Parliament sat in the House of Commons and debated these five topics and voted for the priority campaign, which was 'Transport'.

The debate was chaired by the Speaker, Rt Hon John Bercow MP, following opening remarks from the Leader of the House, Rt Hon Sir George Young MP, and Shadow Leader Maria Eagle MP. MYPs also met the Childrens Minister Tim Loughton MP and the Leader of the Opposition, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP.

The UK Youth Parliament is currently working with a number of other organisations across Europe to create a new online political forum, called OurSpace.

OurSpace will give young people across Europe the opportunity to debate issues of local, national and European importance with each other and with relevant decision makers.

The project has only just begun and before we go any further we want to get your views about online forums – what works well, what doesn’t work well.

It would be great if you could complete our survey. It only takes 2 minutes to do. Your comments will help us develop the new OurSpace website.

Here is the link to the survey: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22BKQ8XDJHD/

We appreciate your time and input!

The UK Youth Parliament is currently conducting research on behalf of the Children's Commissioner for England about what young people are looking for when they visit their General Practitioner (GP).

A GP is your regular family doctor with whom you visit at either your local surgery or health clinic.

The information you provide in the survey is completely confidential and we won’t ask for your name, or your address. The Children’s Commissioner for England will use the information in her work to help improve health services for young people.

We want as many young people, aged 11-18 in England, to complete the survey as possible.

It will take only a couple of minutes of your time. Thank you for your help!

Click here to complete the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GPsurvey_occ

The survey will close on Monday 3rd January 2011.
