Being a young person, is one of the most difficult things in life. What with managing school, work and relationships there are so many other impacting factors in society today. Daily, I experience these stresses and, understand them more than most. This is why I want to put myself forward for UKYP because, I believe with my passion, mature way of handling situations and creative ideas I can truly make a difference for every young person in this generation, and the next. I aim to advocate the views of young people, in the way they present them to me. And promise, to fight for them in every way possible. Not only will I do this, but I will also aim to check these issues/views have been looked at, and relate back to young people the outcomes. I hope that if chosen, I may be a role model for young people. I hope that in the near future, every young person will consider their choices before following through with them and that they know and have every right they are entitled to.
I believe that in electing me, together we can achieve this. Together, we can make a difference.
Karishma, Charnwood

We're the next generation. The future of today! I believe we should get a say in how Leicestershire is run. Having already completed a two year term as an MYP, and being a member of the County Youth Council Leicestershire and Charnwood Youth Council, I believe I'd be an ideal candidate to represent Leicestershire in the UK Youth Parliament.
Having the opportunity to make young people's voices heard on a local, regional and national level is something I'm determined to do! This is the perfect opportunity! I'm a committed individual who'll ensure all tasks are carried out to the best of my ability.
There're many issues affecting young person, one which worries me greatly is homelessness of young people. Most individuals aren't aware of its occurrence in Leicestershire. I can assure you it exists! I want to eradicate this extreme form of poverty - which shouldn't be an issue in such a developed country. Another problem is the lack of Citizenship education emphasising safety; something that's imperative and should be available to all. I also wish to take up issues, young people from Leicestershire consider important!
I hope to receive your SUPPORT and VOTES to achieve my aspirations! Thank you!
Daniel, North West Leicestershire

I think I would be a good MYP, As I have experience working with different community groups such as Ibstock in bloom and project 57 I am also a member of NWL youth focus group who meet and discuss issues that affect young people in our area we work with district council very closely. I have also been a volunteer at Ibstock youth club since January 2010 and have extensive knowledge and experience with dealing with my peers aged 12-17. During this time on behalf of the young people at Ibstock youth club I have had dealings with the parish council regarding the skate park in Ibstock. After several meeting I helped with the redevelopment of the skate park as a result of this it is still being used by the community today. Over the past two years one of the major issues I have picked up on is the negative stereotype used by the media almost as an attack on young people, to help begin counter this negative effect I with others helped plan community events using a intergenerational theme some examples of these are the T-pod and more recently a community litter pick. Currently I am helping run two community projects in Ibstock a community mosaic project and a community garden project.
I have a strong interest in politics and a rather good understanding of the political system however I am always learning and I think this will be a great opportunity.
I would also be honoured to have the opportunity to help make the voices of not just the 8000 young people in my district but that of the whole country heard.
Luke, Melton

I would like to stand as the candidate for Melton as I am aware of the current issues facing young people and am confident enough to convey my opinions to others. Locally, I would really like to see the youth centre open on additional evenings and a youth shelter erected by the village hall. However nationally, the things that concern me are the lack of jobs available for young people which could be tackled by increasing the amount of summer jobs available to students so they can get experience to match their qualifications. It would be really good to see an ID card rolled across the UK for under 16's as it is really expensive to buy a passport just for ID purposes and this is a great way of proving your age so you can access cheaper travel.
Nicola, North West Leicestershire

What I would like to do if I were elected would be to help the young people in my area to get their voice across and to get the problems across that are in my area. I would do this by going to the people who will help with these problems and if there was a debate that will be appropriate to my problems then I would speak out let the people know that there are problems in my area. If I ask someone to help with the problem I would do regular checkups to see if the problem I discussed with them was being solved. I would also give feedback to the person. Some of my best qualities are: I'm really good at listening which will help me understand the problems a long with listen to other people's opinion. I'm good at communication so I will be good at giving feedback to the people when required. Also, I'm on the children in care council so this makes me determined to change some of the problems that children in care face and what isn't being done I can share with important people who can help change this.
Jazmine, Charnwood

As a young person, I have participated in many community events and ventures, including the Girl Guiding UK. I am a young person born in the UK with multilingual background and I thank my parents for that. I have excellent communication skills with my peer groups and adults alike.
I feel no child should be homeless or go without a decent meal at home. Youths have a lot to contribute to society as we are the future leaders of this world. I would like to alleviate homelessness, bullying, youth unemployment and stigma anti-social behaviour.
I want school transport to be free, irrespective of the distance a child has to travel to school. I would like every youth to be able to access higher education without the payment of fees or getting into loan debts. I want the youths to learn how to save our planet for the future. The adults these days are destroying our future needs. I want to put the re-cycling agenda on the top of my list of changes.
I want our youths to stand up and be counted and hence I ask for your votes and support, Thank You.
