Down in the depths of one of Leicester's book shops on one Tuesday evening, you could find a herd of people: keen cosplayers; talented artists and manga and anime fans, all keen for the event to start.
Once again, a spokesperson of Tokyo pop used his laptop to show us excited people new release manga books which got all of us cheering. The laptop even showed us a quiz with tedious questions testing our brains on manga knowledge.
People observed fan's terrific artwork and voted for their favourite. The cosplayers ran to the front, including several Death Note, Bleach and Naruto characters. The observers chose their favourite cosplayers after hard minutes of deciding.
After all the marking of the papers, a drawing of an adorable L from Death Note won the artwork competition. Kakashi from Naruto won the cosplay contest and there was a raffle where everyone had a free ticket for it. Prizes ranged from merchandise to Tokyo pop sweat bands.
There were Japanese snacks including pocky and normal food for the less oriental ones, including chocolate bars and crisps. Manga readers hunted high and low for their favourite books and took advantage of the 3 for 2 offer!
It was a successful night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! A fun night out for all you manga and anime fans out there.
