The Nintendo Wii
Well, christmas 06 was a great new year for nintendo. Their new console was released worldwide and within hours everywhere had sold out. And so it should be too!
The Wii is fantastic. It has so many features it is unbelievable.
I can't list them all or else you'd be here for hours reading but I'll try to explain a few.
1) Movement sensors. Like the eye toy but much more advanced it can detect up, down, left, right, near and far. In other words, completely 3d. This is great for games like Red Steel, Wario-ware and Zelda as it can detect the sligtest movements, but also powerful ones (like sword moves in Red Steel & Zelda).
2) Twist sensors. The remotes can even tell if you're twisting the remote around in your hand. Also great for WarioWare.
3) Depth sensors. The Wii can detect if your remote is near to the screen of far away. This is fantastic for Wii Play, but specifically the pool minigame (using the cue).
Also, there will be many different extensions to the Wii remote. At the moment there is just the Wii nunchuk, a small controller with 2 buttons and an anolouge control stick.
There are going to be many new games released for the Wii, with many big titles coming out almost every 2 weeks. If you can get your hands on one of these consoles, then you should definately get one. The new generation of gaming has definately arrived in the form of the Wii.
