Takeover Radio is going green!

Children’s radio station, Takeover Radio is going green and has launched a recycling appeal, encouraging participants, listeners and local businesses to collect items to help the environment.

Takeover Radio, a community radio station run for children by children has started an appeal for people to collect old mobile phones, printer cartridges and aluminium cans to help save the planet and raise money for the children’s media trust, which is a registered charity. One of the Takeover presenters; Jasmine Suter, aged 14 said of the appeal “It’s a good idea, because kids don’t usually recycle much, they just throw their cans in the bin and don’t realise the difference they could make”

It’s easy to join the appeal and anyone can help out. You can help in two ways; take your recycled items to Environ on Hinckley road next to the Eco House on Western Park. Alternately ring the recycling appeal line 08451 402010; quoting the Takeover appeal number; 723005 and they will arrange for items to be collected.

Takeover Radio is particularly interested in engaging with local businesses to encourage them to become more environmentally friendly and join the appeal. Sharon Komrska, Trust Manager commented, “It’s nice to see our young presenters taking an interest in the environment and now we want local businesses to join in!”
