Red Steel
Well, Rred Steel was a game virtually unheard of until a few months until Wii Launced, and it was a game that really started to show the Wii's capabilities. Incase you know nothing about it at all, Red Steel is a combination on shooting and swordfighting your way through many realistic levels of an ongoing storyline that takes you through Japan.
Possibly one of the best things about this game is that it is exclusive to the Wii, so the motion sensor part of it has not just been added at last minuite, it was actually designed to be on the Wii.
You start out as a simple bodyguard and then get involved in alot more, with more being added to the stakes. The game works brilliantly well at teaching you the new moves, especially with swordfighting techniques. Unlike other games, Red Steel's swordfighting moves are not unlocked one after another after each level, it depends on how well you perform. For doing better at the game and getting involved in the actual morals of the game you can earn respect points. One example of this is if you beat an opponent in a swordfight, you have the choice to leave him or kill him. If you are merciful, you will earn respect points.
As you earn more respect points, your rank increases, and more people hear of you. When you gain a new rank, you will be taught some new moves. So theoretically (and I have done this once) if you perform very well in 1 perticular level, you can gain 5 or 6 respect ranks and beat opponents easier with your vast array of advanced swordfighting moves.
The gunplay also works well, as it is very realistic. You can only carry 1 hand gun/pistol and one machine gun/shotgun. Therefore you have to conserve your bullets, as there are no cheats or bonus rooms to get more ammo in this game. After a while you get to choose where to go and which missions to take so the game becomes alot more involved than it already is.
One of the only bad things about this game is the shortness of it. If you are good at lightgun games like time crisis then the chances are you will fly past the first few levels and it will only take a short amount of time to complete. But do not worry, if you like this game alot, Ubisoft are planning to make a series of Red Steel games, with release dates unconfirmed as yet.
Another let down is the multiplayer mode. Most of the scenarios are very small and offer little or no cover to shoot from. Also, unless you have a very big screen to play it on, most of the time you cannot see what you are doing, which can get very fustrating.
Also, there is no Wi-Fi mode, but it is hoped that will be included in the next game.
Overall this is a very good game and is worth getting if you have a Wii and are into good shooting games, although do note that Red Steel is a 15 rated game.
