Pre-Uni - Very Excited

I am stupidly excited about Freshers Week -even though it is still 24days away. Fearne cotton is hosting hte Imperial College Mingle, Simon Bird [aka Will from The Inbetweeners] is hosting some kind of game show, there is a roller disco and a Freshers Ball... [This isn't me showing off - I am just ridiculously excited!]

I also just found out where I'll be staying for the next year - Falmouth Hall which is part of Southside Halls just over the Road From Imperial College... near Hyde Park, the Royal Albert Hall, the science Museum!!

Though the worrying thing is that the nearest big shop appears to be Harrods... not that that is a bad thing... it just means I will spend my loan in the first week... Though apparently there is a tesco somewhere near by.. and a sainsbury's... maybe they deliver?

Results night was crazy, but brilliant. Just about all of my friends from college who got their results today went out to the Polar Bear for their Quids night - there must have been at least 40 people that I knew there. Plus another 50 or so that i didn't from various other colleges around Leicester. For an event I half co-ordinated I thought it was brilliant. A few of my friends and I dressed up as Pirates and Ninjas which was really fun.....credit goes to my friend tom who was wearing his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Costume - with inflatable shell!!!

After that we all split off into various groups and headed off to various clubs where we danced the night away in style to all types of music. A good night was had by all.

I still need to get round to making a vlog, but at the moment the general trend is to just write blogs, and I think I enjoy doing it. However I realise that my blogging style leaves quite a lot to be desired, but hopefully I will improve.

Also it turns out that Imperial have a student bloggers section on their site so I am going to try to convince them that I can be one of them as a first year Electronic Engineering Student - it is very exciting.

Signing off for a day or three.

Probably one of the best days off my life so far, all of my best friends have got into university who wanted to go and many of them got AAA, similarly to me.

I swore to myself that I wouldn't set my alarm and would just wake up when I was ready and would get up and check my results then. However I woke up at 5.55am [yes this time actually exists] and then realised it was results time and got hyper and bounced round the house to turn on the pc. I got online by 6am [when my college posted all results] and then checked my results with my parents looking over my shoulder. I got A in Physics, Maths and Electronics and a B in Further Maths all of which I was ECSTATIC about.

Then I checked my email to check that I got in at Imperial and found that they had sent an email at 2.49am saying that I had got in as I had made their requested results- I was very happy... and then I preceded to have the most exciting facebook and msn conversations ever with many of my friends including milliben and Pioneer and spent a good few hours congratulating everyone.

I then went off into leicester to collect the official results from college just to check they hadn't messed up their system - they hadn't!

I then hung out with my friends for a few hours which was great, and now I',m just preparing to go off out to celebrate "properly".

I will give details as to what happened tomorrow, when I wake up!

Regards, A very excited

Pre Results Post 3

 My final pre-results post!

I can get my results in 7hours time if I am awake [6am], but I really don't think it will happen, to be honest i'm looking forward to a lie in because I have been at work getting up at 8am all week and going to work is tiring... I had the worst pre-results dream last night... I woke up thinking I'd failed everything and had missed the big day entirely - it was reather horrifying!

I just thought I would tell you about the "bottom drawer" that my mum has been collecting for me. About 1month ago she decided she would start collecting things for university for me, like shampoos, paracetemol, hangover cures and the like. [Also flip-flops for communal showers] Unfortunately [fortunately for me] the drawer got a bit crowded so now it's 2 boxes of stuff, including a handy cooking book [which I will review at a later date] I will get round to posting a photo of the boxes too. There are also many cans of beans there too - I love beans! They are rather versatile. Hopefulyl tomorrow will show whether I can make these boxes useful or not... I hope I can.

Anyway I best be off now. You should check out jvickyb's post about 2nd year life - it's really interesting... and also iamo's accounts of his results experiences... they are both hilarious reads.

 All the best!

Richard

Pre-Results Blog Post 2

17/08/09

After re-reading my first blog post today I realised that I haven't yet introduced myself. I also realised this after reading Millie's excessively good first blog post, which shows why she is off to study Law and I'm off to do Electronic Engineering which requires significantly less essay writing than Law.

Okay So I'm Richie, 18, Clay Pigeon Shooting Referee and part time electronic engineering trainee [It's my awesome summer job]. I'm an only child [This makes for some good vocabulary lessons when studying languages - Je suis enfant unique and Ich bin Einzelkind]. I'm a geek, a nerd and any other friendly name you wish to call me and I think it's GREAT! I love languages and science related things, I speak French, German, a bit of Russian and bit of Spanish and I feel the need to learn more languages. I'm off to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Imperial College if I make my crazy offer of AAA with A in every maths module, or I'll end up at Durham [with iamo and jvickyb (aren't they lucky)] studying Engineering with the offer of AAB... For some reason I thought that was an acceptable insurance offer. [Compared to Millie's it is!] Then hopefully at either university I'll get to study abroad for a year in France or Germany.

I can get my results online at 6am, i'm still unsure whether I'll get up at that time or not, and then I can collect them from College at 10am. Though there are rumours that we can all get our results at 3am from the UCAS site. I'd be tempted to stay up if that is true.

Anyway I best get off now, I have other things to be do. I will probably post tomorrow, if not definitely on Wednesday AND Thursday! Aren't you the lucky ones!

Hello I'm Richie and I'm the instigator of the Jitty University Vlog/Blog Project. =]

The University Vlog/Blog project was an idea I had after a group of us on the forums had spent a good year or more talking about which university to choose, applying for university, attending university interviews and applying for student finance. Personally i found all this "chatter" rather interesting and useful and thought it would be interesting to hear about everyone's university experiences when they actually arrive. I also thought this we could end up helping each other with our experiences at university, as we have been doing throughout our A-level time.

The project may also be of interest to people who are considering applying to university next year, or in many years to come. As they may be encouraged [or discouraged] from the idea of going to university.

1 Week to go to results!
