• When he left school, he could be seen in several TV series, but got his first real role in 1997. Since then, more and more offers followed, but he preferred the stage, so he turned down many of them.
• Orlando started reading the mega thick Lord of the Rings book at the age of fourteen. He only read half of it, because he thought sport, music and girls were a lot cooler. Just before the start of shooting the movie he continued reading the book.
• His hobbies are quite dangerous if he has a sec of spare time, he enjoys skydiving, bungee jumping, parachuting, surfing and snow boarding, and doing this he has broke quite a few bones – both his legs, a nose, an arm his ribs, a finger and a toe!
• A while ago he even broke his back when he fell down three floors. The doctors predicted that he couldn’t walk again. But by amazing good fortune, Orlando walked out of the hospital only twelve days after the operation.
• Orlando has a special tattoo. It’s the number nine in Elvish, the language spoken in the Lord Of The Rings movie. The other actors, at least the ones that are ring bearers in the movie, all have the same tattoo!
