The well loved pink-haired artist is back with her 4th album. P!nk shows once again that she does not stick to one particular genre but is wowing music fans world wide with her razor sharp wit (Stupid Girls) her political knowledge and ability to provoke thought within the audience (Dear Mr. President.) and the way she can incorporate it so easily into her lyrics.

Although many of P!nk’s songs can seem shallow and fun, they generally have a deeper meaning lurking. Some of the songs are very upbeat, dancey songs which are good to listen to if you feel upset as they make you wanna get up and dance along and have fun i.e. 'Cuz I Can' is a very fast, over whelming track which gives off the message ‘so what?’ This may help with confidence in a younger audience but if listened to too excessively the wrong attitude may be taken up.

Others are more droopy, depressed songs which have a deep meaning and rouse thought into why that feeling is there. For example in 'Who Knew' the song is written from the angle of a girl who went through a relationship breakup and is suffering emotionally as a result. The song raises the question of why people stay in relationships when their friends have told them the relationship is bad for them. As this situation is quite a common occurence many fans and listeners may be able to relate to the song.

'Dear Mr. President' and 'Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self,' are particularly thought provoking as P!nk (in Dear Mr. President) talks ‘to’ the president and asks several questions that can turn extremely controversial. This gets the audience to think about how they would answer and what the ‘correct’ answer may be. P!nk shows that even if a situation is really bad, it will only get better in 'Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self,' as she is singing to her younger self. P!nk has been though everything her younger version is going through, therefore she knows that it will get better and can reassure the younger girl. This helps to give all girls with troubles, the confidence that it will be alright in the end.

I find the two bonus songs are very confidence building as they take the ‘up yours’ approach in a ‘never mind, I’m better’ sort of way.

Black Spacer

By having a wide mix of tones in her music, P!nk makes sure that her album is different to anything else on the market. Having some sadder songs may help people who need to ‘let it out’ have a cry, which will help them feel better overall, then a happy bouncy song comes on and cheers the person up.

I find that when I put this album on, whatever I am doing, I have to get up and sing and dance along to it and it generally puts me in a really good mood and I smile for the rest of the day.
