Peer pressure can take many forms, and everyone faces it at many different points during their life time.

Are you being badgered to stay out all night, start drinking, take drugs, have sex? This is what most people think when they think of peer pressure and people our age, and certainly it is an issue. It's hard when you feel like the odd one out, you feel like everyone is doing something and you're the only one that isn't. Your friends say its cool, and that you should try it, but if you have doubts - don't give in.

You shouldn't feel forced to do anything you don't want to, if you have any doubts then don't be afraid to say no. You will probably find that people respect you for doing things as you want to do them and not just going along with everyone else, and you will have more self-respect as well. Sometimes its good to stand out and be different.

Not all peer pressure is a bad thing though. Maybe a friend is asking you to join the drama club with them, or go to football practice, but you're unsure. You may discover a new talent, make new friends, have lots of fun, maybe build your confidence. There's no harm in trying, and if you don't enjoy it then you don't have to do it again!

In the end its your decision, no one else's, some experiences will be good, others may not be, you just have to do what's best for you!
