NWL Dodgeball Sessions

Following the release of the movie ‘Dodgeball’ and with the first British Dodgeball Championships taking place in Leicestershire last May the sport is growing in popularity.

Teams try to eliminate opposing players by either hitting them with a foam ball below the shoulders or catching a thrown ball before it bounces.

On Tuesday 15th of January people across the district can try the team sport for themselves when the first Dodgeball taster session in North West Leicestershire is held at King Edward VII Science and Sport College.

North West Leicestershire physical activity co-ordinator Sarah Ruane said: “Playing this fast-paced game provides an all-body workout whilst having fun, developing skills, and encouraging competitive spirit. Since you are playing a game, you also forget you are working out! It has been piloted in other districts and has been very well received.

A team consists of six players aged 16 or over and can be mixed. People can either attend the session in a team or on their own.

The session will run from 6- 7pm and costs £3.50 per person or £18 per team of six or more players.

Coaching and instruction will be given to all before the games begin.
