New Moon
By Stephanie Meyer

The Second of the Twilight Series

Edward leaves. Bella can’t take it. She is numb for months. A shell of her former self. After a while she goes to the cinema with her best friend, Jessica, where she thinks she sees the men who tried to kill her months before. As she gets closer to them she hears Edward’s velvety voice inside her head. After that she tries all manner of things so that she can hear him. She goes to see an old friend, Jacob Black, to see if he’ll help her. She goes cliff diving. Edward finds out from Rosalie and think’s she’s dead and so he tries to kill himself but Alice won’t let him do that and goes in search for Bella. Is Bella still alive? Will there be a chance if saving Edward?

After reading Twilight I had high expectations of this book. Meyer doesn’t fail to impress. At one point I was so absorbed I almost shouted “No! No! No!” but as I was on a coach full of school mates on the way back form France, and many were trying to sleep I had to contain myself. Easier said than done.

I also wanted to scream at Bella for not figuring out something about her best friend, Jacob Black, as soon as I did. This something is so big it could change their friendship forever.

New Moon has the same attention to detail as Twilight and after reading Twilight I’d say (which I didn’t think was possible) that New Moon is even better. We get to see inside Edward’s head more and we discover the extent of friendships. The emotions are portrayed just as well as Twilight and the tension is just as strong.

Meyer has captured the imagination of thousands of people with this Best Seller (New York Times). It’s still got a lot of mystery as we learn more about one of the characters and there’s a lot to learn about the mythical world that Bella has entered.

New Moon is an un-put-downable book which I would recommend to anyone over 14 who likes a combination of supernatural and modern day.
