Myth2

Two special effects experts embark to investigate myths, study folklore and determine legends. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman present Mythbusters, now in its 5th series. With each of them having varied backgrounds that make them well equipped with the knowledge of how to create explosions, ridiculous and over the top movie scenario's and just about anything else you could want for replicating strange myths.

Along with their Junior team (and their crash test dummy 'Buster'), the mythbusters have tackled various myths over the past few years, from a car with JATO rocket boosters to ridiculous movie stunts, and even such controversial things as did the Titanic really suck people down with her? Each myth is given a classification either Confirmed, Plausible or Busted, depending on the results of their tests.

Each show consists of 2 mythbusting stages, replicating the circumstances, and replicating the results. They start by doing exactly what the myth says and testing wether it really goes the way people claim. If that fails to provide what it promises, they beef it up and change it around until it does. When investigating the suggestion of a vacuum cleaner becoming a jet engine, they even went as far as to build a jet engine from vacuum cleaner parts. Of course as with most people, their favourite myths to investigate usually involve explosions.

Cell Phone Destruction Mishap

The show has catalogued many Myths throughout its running history, as well of its fair share of accidents. Although there are some myths it has disproved which I would still not like to test (Bullets fired up for example) and some it has proved which I would still rather avoid (walking in the rain keeps you drier).

An intersting program for people with an interest in science or mysteries, and something I enjoy watching whenever its on.
