Vas's Election statement
I think I am a worthy candidate to become a Young Mayor because I have many qualities that are required to become an admirable young mayor.
The qualities that I have, that I think will help me to become a great young mayor and stand out from the rest are:
- I am confident at talking to large groups of people
- I am very friendly and will get along with everyone
- I give a great level of respect to everyone
- I also treat everyone with the equality, as i do not discriminate
- I am honest, trustful and reliable
The reason why I am standing is that I believe that I can speak out the needs and concerns of the young people. For example, one of the things I would like to change is the price for public transport like bus travel. I would like them to be cheaper, because my school peers use the bus daily and they constantly complain about the overpriced charges for the bus. I think it is a vey common nuisance among many young people who use the bus.
The way that I will feedback to the young people of Melton about what is going on, and what changed are happening, is through a website that I will make. The young people will then be able to tell me personally their needs and concerns. I think this will be an effective way to find out what the young people want.
Finally I think I would be the best person for the job because I want to help develop the young community of Melton Mowbray for the better.
Deputy Young Mayor 09/10 - Adam
Adam was elected as the Deputy Young Mayor for the second year running.
Adam's election statement
I would like to be the young mayor because I am already the Deputy Young Mayor and this has whetted my appetite to improve. I enjoy being able to represent the Young of this Borough and wish to continue to do so. I feel I have a lot more to offer andbe would also like to improve the facilities for youth to use in and around the town. I would like to try and raise the awareness of the lack of facilities and approach possible companies and my ultimate aim would be to get a bowling alley to come to Melton Mowbray
