Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac-
By Gabrielle Zevin

Published by Bloomsbury
Released in 2007

From the author of "Elsewhere" comes a brand new page turner for young adults.

Although obstensibly a typical tale of teenage romance, "Memoirs..." is, beneath the surface, so much more. A heart-warming, thought provoking story about past, present and future, the talke of Naoimi Porter kept me gripped until the final page.

After a nasty accident puts Naomi in hospital, she wakes up to find that she cannot remember the last 3 and a half years of her life. No longer the 12 year old girl that she remembers, Naomi begins to ask a lot of questions- and not just because she has amnesia.

What actually attracted her to her boyfriend Ace in the first place?
Had she been too harsh in writing her mum out of her life?
Are she and her best friend Will closer than he's making out?
Is James Larkin's dark past really that important?

In the weeks that follow, the teenage amnesiac struggles to piece her life back together, and discover who she really is. But when her memory returns, will she do the right thing and tell Will, James and her family?

Or is it sometimes easier to forget the past?

A touching read, "Memoirs..." was a compelling account of a young girl's struggle to figure out lfie. Although I di not warm particularly to the protagonist, and was some what disappointed with the ending, I still thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

A perfect read for most teenage girls, I would recommend certainly "Memoirs..." to anyone who likes a good read.
