Kaiser

The Leeds quintet “Kaiser Chiefs” debut album “Employment” has got to be one of the most catchy albums to come out of the UK music industry in a long time. People who aren’t even fans find themselves singing along before they know it. This isn’t surprising since their work reminds us of classic bands such as “Madness”, “XTC” and the “Zombies”.

The album is very progressive starting off with the very up beat song “Every Day I Love You Less And Less” (which with lyrics like ‘I’ve got to get this message to the press / that everyday I love you less and less’ suggests a dislike for the media’s preoccupation with celebrity relationships,) and ending with the slower “Team Mate”. But of course there are the classics that make up this album, they are: “I Predict A Riot” and “Oh My God”.

As much as I like the “Kasier Chiefs” there are time when their lyrics are very contrived and they seem to have lost their rhyming dictionary. Case in point, since when did 'beaten' and 'police men' rhyme? But with their style it all works out ok.

Overall I’d say this album is one that is not to be missed with their unpretentious lyrics that are a who lot of fun and some real head banging moments.
