SPOTLIGHT on Harborough's Student Councils

Harborough Youth Council is organising its annual conference, but this time, its different from anything we've done before.

Introducing SPOTLIGHT, a day dedicated to developing the student councils at the schools in the Harborough District. HYC's members are working hard to ensure that the day will be a success; providing the delegates with training and support that will build communcation between young people across Harborough and HYC.

The day will be made up of a range of workshops run by HYC members and supported by proffesionals to develop each student councils skills in the areas of Participation, Publicity and Campaigning. In addition, the staff members from each student council will have the oppourtunity to share good practice and see how HYC's members believe a student council is best run.

As well as the workshops, there will be the chance for each council to select two representatives to officially represent their school at HYC meetings; as well as various communication and team building excercises.

Tim, the Chair of Harborough Youth Council said: 'I'm really excited about this conference. It's sure to be an informative yet enjoyable day; and the success which I'm sure we'll have is a testament to the hard work are members have been putting in'

SPOTLIGHT has been postponed until early 2010. For more details contact HYC on harborough@thejitty.com

Working party no.1 Feedback
Thu, 13 Nov 2008

We’ve recently had a working party to help plan out our conference, which is coming up sooner than you think!.
We’ve discussed what we want to achieve in the conference, and we’re searching on a new name more… “funner’er” than Political Speed Dating, as it sounds so dull.
We’re hoping to have a fantastic debate and preparation is going smoothly, we are sorting out advertisement (Posters, Letters Ect).
We are working on getting some handsets to help out and make things run a lot quicker/smoother so we don’t have so much work to do! (Lazy people we are!)
Hoping to get our 3 priorities also with working with handsets, but fingers crossed we can get hold of them!!!

The brilliant news- Jane is back to help out with the conference! How we’ve missed her so, but Adrian is doing brilliantly at this moment in time with working with us and helping out, Ditto to Emily, Rich and Craig using their time to contribute! Which I think all of us in Harborough greatly appreciate!!

Harborough Positions!!
Fri, 17 Oct 2008

The exec should be having a meeting soon to discuss the conference further and try make it as organised as possible, but that's all for now! I will post later on our results!
