Executive Committee
Below are members of the Hinckley & Bosworth Youth Council Executive Committee (Exec). Executive members must be elected at an Annual General Meeting in March or at an Extraordinary General Meeting which may be called at any point during the year.
Chair
Hello, I'm Millie, as chair it's my job to make sure that everyone else is doing their jobs. I also have to lead the meetings, so that means I write agendas and then make sure that everyone has the chance to get their say during the meeting. Being chair means a lot of things, it's a big responsibility and there are billions of things to learn but it's great fun. I've loved every single second of my time at Hinckley and Bosworth Youth Council and I'm much more confident now. I get hundreds of emails a day and have to keep loads of meetings and information in my head, but luckily I have a fab vice chair who is great at organising me...
Vice-Chair
I'm Martin, I've been to HBYC for just over three years and have enjoyed every minute of it. You have to work there, but the rewards are simply excellent. Apart from the plentiful food, I have improved my teamwork and leadership skills as well as improving my confidence a far bit. For example, I am now far more confident at speaking out loud - in fact, I rather enjoy it! However, there was a time when this was not true, but through my work, and it is work, I have strived to improve, and I think I have. And in my position as Vice Chair, which I stood for this year, I believe I can further improve my leadership skills.
Treasurer
Hi, I'm James, Treasurer for HBYC. I get to look after the money :-) !!!
It's great fun - especially telling subgroup leaders "no, you do NOT have unlimited funds!!".
I was vice-treasurer last year and so this year has been a great step up!
Vice-Treasurer
Josh, Vice treasurer, best Josh in HBYC (elected position) all, I keep track of James keeping Track of the money, it’s good, and fun, and everyone should do it. Thank you all, you have been a great audience. Good night.
Communications
Hi I’m Chloe! I’m the Communications Officer of HBYC. Comms for short. I joined HBYC about a year and half ago and it was the best thing I ever did. My role as Communications Officer involves keeping everybody in contact with each other. This is my first position in the Exec. Since being with HBYC I have built up my confidence and organisation. Even though things get hectic at times it’s just fun, fun, fun! Bye for now!
Publicity Officer
Hi, I'm Josh. I am the Publicity Officer for HBYC. I'm in charge of the publicity material from leaflets and postcards to promotional DVDs and accessories.
Press Officer
Hi. I’m Bhavik, HBYC’s Press Officer. I’ve been at HBYC for around a year now and I have enjoyed it right from the start. My job as Press Officer involves dealing with the press (newspapers, radio etc)– getting them to our events like Battle Of the Bands, the Voice of Young Peoples’ Conference, and also to put in general good news about the Youth in Hinckley and Bosworth (to show that the youth aren’t bad people at all).
Jitty Officer
I'm Matt, and I'm the new Jitty Officer. I have to make sure that information from The Jitty and Hinckley & Bosworth Youth Council flows both ways.
SLO - School Liaison Officer
Hi, my name is Simon, I’ve been a part of the Youth Council for some time now, and I’ve now reached the point where I’m on the executive committee. My job title is SLO (School Liaison Officer) which tends to suit me quite well, as I’m not always as sharp as some of the other executive members. I keep the schools up to speed with what we’re doing as a Youth Council and I provide a mutual link of communication between us and the schools.
