Earl Shilton's "Teenspace"

When I was told that I was going to go to a library to meet with people about a new section in a library in Earl Shilton, I was not best pleased. “Teenspace”, I was told, is a revolution for a library. But as soon as I walked up the shiny new staircases, I discovered that teenspace is a valuable asset to everyone in Earl Shilton, and the surrounding area.

Teenspace is a revolution for teenagers, finally, a place to hang out with the same kind of people as you, and to have a wide variety of magazines, books, CD’s, talking books, biographies, an interactive whiteboard, and, my personal favourite, the PS3! There are always staff around to help you with your homework, coursework and revision.

The library opening times are as follows:

• Monday – 9.30am – 5.00pm
• Tuesday – 9.30am – 7.00pm
• Wednesday – 9.30am – 1.00pm
• Thursday – 9.30am – 7.00pm
• Friday – 9.30am – 5.00pm
• Saturday – 9.30am – 5.00pm

Teenspace is a whole new concept, and you have the power to make it what you want it to be. So if you live in Earl Shilton or the surrounding area, then why not drop into teenspace? You are welcome to bring your friends along as well. There is always something to do and the door is always open. You have the power to make teenspace what it is, with regular votes on what magazine subscriptions teenspace should sign up to, what PS3 games they should buy and what CD’s/DVD’s they should purchase. They have a wide range of activities to do, there is a fantastic chill out section, and your input is always valued and is important.

Earl Shilton Library is the second to be involved with having a teenspace, the other being Enderby. Earl Shilton’s teenspace is much more developed though. Earl Shilton has 10 computers in teenspace alone, among the other mediums that they have.

Teenspace is open during the normal opening times, so they are always there. So why not drop in and have a good time…
