e2e (Entry to Employment)

E2E (Entry to Employment) is a course that is run nationally for young people aged between 16 – 18 who are not in education, training or employment. Leicestershire County Council run an e2e project in Wigston.

E2E helps you get into education or employment by helping you in three core areas: basic skills, personal & social development and employment skills. Things you may get help with include: Self esteem, anger management, finances, cooking on a budget, visits to the gym, relationship skills, interview techniques, CV writing, workplace skills and career research.

Each e2e student has a specific programme tailored to their needs and aspirations and usually includes a work placement to help make sure you’re committing to the right career. Typically, e2e may last upto 22 weeks, and requires a minimum attendance of 16 hours per week. Many young people gain extra qualifications whilst here also, such as health & safety/ first aid and Youth Achievement Awards.

You may be eligible for EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) to assist you whilst on programme, and there are bonuses to be gained for various achievements along the way.

“I have been on e2e for 17 weeks now and I have enjoyed it very much. I feel that as a result of e2e my confidence has increased, and this was made easier because two of my old school friends are on the same course.

As part of e2e we have done courses on things such as ‘Health & Safety’, ‘Food Hygiene’, ‘First Aid’ and ‘Budgeting’.”

What's been happening lately?

Some of the group have been on a short course on bike mechanics- they even get to keep their own bikes once they've been renovated!!
