D of E Group (Shepshed)

The Duke of Edingburgh Award likes to offer young people challenges for them to achieve. These are

- Community Service
- Skills (or hobbies)
- Physical Action
- Expedition

The group at Shepshed Youth Centre has been running for somewhere in the region of 8 years now, and has had a number of people achieve the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards

They have recently carried out an expedition to Derbyshire (which they passed and got an award for), and have also prepared a canoeing expedition round the Shrewsbury area.

They are a friendly group who always welcome new members.

The sessions run on every Wednesday 6:00pm to 8:00pm

One young person said:

"I've been coming for four years, and for starters we have fun, but we also get to see people (old friends) who have moved in to different colleges."

whilst another said

"We get to go away with friends and do stuff we don't normally get a chance to do."
