Doctor Who
Series Three
Doctor: David Tennant.
Companion: Freema Agyeman
I think these two work brilliantly together. They bring out the emotion in Doctor Who.
Since Tennant has started, Doctor Who has had higher and higher ratings every year. They deserve every fan they have, because Freema and David work extremely hard.
All the way through the series, Russell T Davies (Head Doctor Who Writer) has done a tremendous job. He has a pure skill for writing amazing scripts.
Starting off with the first episode of series three, "Smith and Jones". It started off with a quirky start and started gradually turning into tragedy, but as always the Doctor and his companion save the day.
As the series rolls on, you find the Doctor getting into stranger and much more terrifying situations.
"The Shakespeare Code" was a really unique episode, bringing the olden times back to life, with the power of words. The scene at the end where the Doctor was chased by the Queens men was classic!
Getting towards the end of the series, the serious side of Doctor Who was released.
The Doctor, who always thought he was the last of the Time Lords in a cage?
Captain Jack all chained up?
Martha's family captured?
The episodes "The sound of the drums" and "Last of The Time Lords" were full of surprises, tragedy and hope. Saving Earth was all up to Martha this time, but the Doctor had faith. She trekked all over the world looking for the 4 components to kill "The Master", but she didn't really need them. Martha was spreading stories of the Doctor all over the world. How he saved all their lives time after time. To set the Doctor free, the world had to chant one single word...Doctor.
That was the end of Martha, the Doctor could never forgive himself for ruining half of Martha's life.
Series four.
Doctor: David Tennant.
Companion: Catherine Tate.
When i first heard that Catherine Tate was going to be on the show, i was quite weary about it. I thought i wouldn't be able to take it seriously anymore and that it would be all jokes. I do think that they have tried to make it funnier slightly, but when it comes to the emotional parts, she does a great job of it.
The first episode of Series four, was a good start to the series. At the beginning Donna and the Doctor kept missing each other but in a very comical way. I think they did very well on those scenes, because they could of over done it and made it drag on, but luckily they didn't!
On this episode, i noticed a few changes to the show, like how when the "Nanny" fell, she didn't fall straight down, she stayed there for a while in a kind of "Cartoonish" way. It might just be me being pedantic! Although, the little Adipose were adorable!
"The Fires of Pompeii" was an interesting one. It's quite amazing that it was actually filmed in Rome. I know that the special effects team put a lot of hard work into that episode! I think it did cause some tension between the Doctor and Donna, because even though the Doctor said no to saving them all, she still fought on and made him save a family. Good old Donna!
"Planet of the Ood" I'm not quite sure what to think of the Ood, they are friendly creatures but they still freak me out a bit. When they get red eye and rabid (out of no fault of there own) they scare me!
Catherine Tate quoted,
"The Ood are my favourite aliens, they remind me of my cat."
Good luck with that Catherine...
"The Sontaran Stratgem" Two words, Cliff Hanger.
"The poison sky" - I'm so glad Wilfred was okay! Bless the Doctor, willing to kill himself to save the world. Next weeks episode...
"The Doctors Daughter" I think this was an amazing episode, once more we say a goodbye to Doctor Martha Jones. It was quite an emotional episode, with lots of backward flips.
