Leicestershire Youth Council (CYCLe)

The Executive

Chair

Hi, I'm Tim, and I'm CYCLe's Chair for 2011/12.

As the Chair, it's my job to lead the youth council. Working mainly with the executive and our staff team, I keep an oversight of everything that goes on within CYCLe – making sure our members have got all the support they need to do their jobs. I also work with the Borough and District Youth Councils to ensure we are getting the voices of as many young people from across Leicestershire.

On a day-to-day basis, I plan and run our meetings; working with all of CYCLe's partner organisations. Together with the executive, I am responsible for pushing the work of CYCLe forward and making sure we are doing everything we can to get the best deal for more than 80,000 young people in the county.

It's a great job and I love doing it, you can contact me any time on cycle@thejitty.com

Vice-Chair

The Vice Chair’s main job is to support the Chair this is done by:

  • Taking on large jobs within the youth forum
  • Being an active member
  • Making sure the group respects the ground rules in meetings
  • Motivating other young people and making sure they are supported
  • Being able to stand in and run meetings where needed

Treasurer

Hi, my name is Lisa-CYCLe’s treasurer. The job of a treasurer could be simply but complicated at the same time. The main role is to look after all “pots” of different budget including CYCLe, the PoP, and Project 515 and inform the members and Chair about facts and figures to help decision making. This is done by writing regular treasurer report and consult around the 7 Chairs. Also, the treasurer must support the chair especially in decisions that involves money and financial matters which could involve doing lots of adding numbers! But, generally, it is a rewarding, fun, and sometimes challenging job to try to make use of the budget dead on the penny!

Inclusion Officer

I make sure that CYCLe always thinks about inclusion in everything we do.

  • Design a range of publicity (i.e., leaflets, brochures and posters) that will advertise who CYCLe is and what CYCLe do; not only aimed at young people but also for adults.
  • Be creative! Although they do not need to be artistic, they should be willing to learn how to use new skills and tools to help

I also keep the CYCLe pages up to date and looking professional all the time.
