Collectormania revisited (April 2006)

There's a reason my alarm is going off at 6am, but without having any coffee, and having gone to bed at just four hours previously, I'm struggling to remember what it is. Ah yes. Collectormania. A reason for me to be up at the crack of dawn.

It's with this thought in mind, that I trundle along happily to meet my fellow Jitty-ers, and await the arrival of Hunter. After going to Collectormania for the first time last September, when James asked for volunteers this time, we had to swiftly rush him to hospital to re-attatch the limbs chewed off in our eagerness to get a place on the road.

We ready? Off we go.

We have one person driving, one person almost comatose in the front seat, one person revising for an upcoming exam, one person twiddling their thumbs, and one moaning about James turning up too early for him to finish straightening his hair...you know who you all are.

It is at this point, I'd like to introduce you to the on-the-road-crew. Meet James, Katy, Nade, Jo and Matt. Those of you on the forums would know us better as Hunter, KrazyKate, Bratpack, Mojoses and Sparky. And when crammed into a Type R...well, things start to get interesting.

Katy Chewie and Brat

No, your eyes do NOT decieve you, that's KrazyKate, Chewbacca, and Bratpack. You see all sorts of wonderful things at Collectormania. Last year was stormtroopers, this year it's Chewie.

We had the opportunity to meet some fantastic stars . Here we have Jonathon Frakes, who plays Commander Riker in Star Trek, posing for a photo with the Jitty logo, Mojoses and Sparky

Riker Mojoses and Sparky

Note, Jonathon doesn't endorse the Jitty, he was just incredibly kind and was only more than happy to pose with our logo. A fantastic man, took time out to chat to us, and made us grin by proclaiming "Save the children!" when asked about the Jitty.

We then managed to meet fellow Star Trek actor, Levar Burton, who plays Geordi LaForge. Despite flying in from LA and arriving in Milton Keynes at 6:45am, Levar was incredibly perky, and when we explained what the Jitty was, happily posed for a photo alongside Hunter and the Jitty logo.

Again, Levar doesn't endorse the Jitty in anyway, but was an incredibly cool dude in posing for us. Thank you muchly :)

And then, a group of people that had half the group clamouring all day. The guys from 'The Lost Boys' were there. All of them were absolutely fantastic, and all four of them posed together with our logo. They also posed for individual shots which made the day for those in the photo.

From left to right: Billy Wirth, Chance M Corbitt, Jamison Newlander and Brooke McCarter. None of the guys endorse the Jitty, again, but all of them were more than willing to pose for a picture together on their suggestion.

And lastly, but by no means least, how many of you here watch 'Lost'? Here we have (again, she doesn't endorse the site) Mira Furlan, who was kind enough to pose for a picture with our logo for us. Thank you very much Mira.

Myself and Hunter, during a scuffle over folder ownership in the middle of the busy shopping center, also managed to give a hearty chuckle to Carl Weathers (of Rocky fame), who, unbeknownst to us, was walking right behind us as I taunted James, the pair of us totally unaware of his presence until he passed us. I'm just glad that I could bring a smile to his day...and I'll just find myself a deep, dark corner to hide in... ;)

We had a brilliant day. I was dragged bodily from several comic stands, Katy was prevented from going in several shops, Matt gained an admirer, and we found a cookie that was as big as Jo's head. Not bad going, I should say.

I'm sure the others have plenty more they'd to add to this (such as the hour long game of 'eye spy' in the car on the way back, that can not be repeated here), so, on behalf of the Jitty, I'd just like to say a *huge* thank you to everyone we met today, and everyone who took time out to pose for photographs with us. And also to the awesome Collectormania staff, who did a brilliant job (we found one man who'd been there since five am...now *that's* dedication) and some of whom even remembered us from last time.

Roll on September! :D
