Collectormania 11

Collectormania is an event where you can meet lots of actors/actresses from a host of different films and TV programmes, get photographs signed by those same people, and if you’re lucky get your picture taken with them. As well as the possibility of meeting someone from your favourite film/TV series there are a nuber of stalls where you can buy lots of collectables/memorabilia. These range from the original Star Wars toys, to the downright expensive replica outfits.

My favourite moments were getting an autograph and photo with Michael Shanks (aka Dr Daniel Jackson Stargate SG-1) and talking to all the other people who we met: Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi in Star Trek The Next Generation), George Takei (Heroes/Star Trek: The Original Series) who surprised us by knowing where Leicester Haymarket is and how he got captivated by a play he saw there (Equus).

We also talked to Kevin Sorbo (Hercules/Andromeda). Despite having been very tired as he’d literally landed in the UK a few hours earlier, and been driven up to Milton Keynes straight away, he made every effort to be friendly (and my god did he do a good job!). He told us he used to be a radio DJ before becoming an Actor! A few actors don't like posing for photographs and don't say much, but even though there was a sign saying "no posed" pictures, he still did anyway, and every person he met he made sure he spoke to them. A very approachable nice guy!!

I thought Collectormania was a fantastic event that should not be missed. Everyone who was there seemed to be having a great time. It was lots of fun even though we all had to get up really early but it was well worth it.

I think anyone who likes to collect autographs/phots of celebrities or likes the people who are going to be there will have loads of fun. For the young and old male or female I think you'll have a great time.
