Traveller Group

We are a group of Gypsy Girls from Leicestershire. We meet as a group on a Monday (1:00pm) which gives us time to get cleaned up and ready. We attend the club for 2 hours a week. Sessions usually start with us going to the shop first before returning back to the Youth Club.

We do different projects, for example, sometimes they’re about beauty, and others they may be about Arts and Crafts. We also manage to go on trips where we might go Rock Climbing, or we might do things like go to Stephenson’s College in Coalville, finding out about courses one week, and the next having our nails, make-up and hair done. We’ve used some of the things we learnt on each other too.

We’ve also done a lot of work on our background of being a gypsy, and we’ve learnt a lot of new things.

We’ve learnt that our reputations sadly, aren’t that great we know, but we’re not all the same. People are people and there are good and bad in all.

New Age Travellers aren’t the same as Travellers/Gypsys. Please don’t get us confused. A lot of people think they are travelers because they move about in Camper Vans and Caravans.
