Keats Meets The Factory Peer Ed Workshop 2
29th November 2007
Based @ Shelthorpe Young People's Centre
The second installment of The Factory's Peer Ed workshop explored through discussion questions which Keats Way had prepared during the session.
Some of the questions asked were based on their religion (such as praying, fasting and Eid), their hobbies and activities they do in their spare time as well as their views on drugs, alcohol and other moral-based questions.
In order to form questions for the discussion the group were split in to 3 teams.
From this, each group held mini discussions on what questions could be asked and to write down at least 5 questions which they were intrigued to find out.
This then led on to promoting an engaging discussion to find out the things that the young people wanted to know.
The Factory project gave Keats Way a deep insight in to their religion, beliefs, culture and lifestyles with comparison and similarities to any other British teenager.
The second part of the session was fun, games and activities with cramboard tournaments, basketball and football on the ballcourt and Asian cooking in the kitchen.
Before the end of the session the Factory group presented Keats with certificates for taking part in the workshops and tickets to the cinema for their appreciation in wanting to learn about Bengali culture.
A big thanks to The Factory Project for providing us with this learning opportunity and for sharing their roots, culture, religion and beliefs through these workshops.
This has given us a better insight in to British Asian culture and helped to break down the barriers of racial awareness.
