Brockington "Old Skool" Project
In November 2007 Brockington College moves into a new 19 million pounds school. The objective of the Old Skool project is to capture the last 50 years of the old Brockington College and capture some the heritage of Enderby and the surrounding area. This will be done by 12+ young people that attend the college with the support of the youth workers. The group intend to make a 40 minute film that will cover topics like, the changes in fashion and school uniform, School dinners today and past, punishment, and various other topics that the the team discover to be of interest.
.
The project will culminate in a presentation evening where the film will be shown to all those that have taken part and various people in the Enderby locality.
.
The aim of this project is to give the young people involved the opportunity to gain the skills of film making, editing, interviewing their peers and adults, producing the artwork for the video and posters advertising the film, plus organising a presentation evening to showcase their film.
Interviews have now taken place and 10 young people at present now form the Management Committee. We have 7 young women and 3 young men. Two young women also attend our Duke of Edinburgh's Award Group at the College and will use the experience gained whilst working on the Old Skool project towards their Skill section of the D of E Award. Other members of the group will also work towards a Youth Achievement Award.
We are recruiting 2 more young people from our Silver D of E group that attended Brockngton College last year.
