Britney Spears is having a baby!

'The time has finally come to share our wonderful news,' said Britters on her website. So it's official: Britney Spears and husband Kevin Federline are having a baby!

Rumours have been sweeping the magazines ever since Britney was recently seen at the doctors, having tests, and not seen smoking or drinking alcohol (which is a good thing anyway).

Britney's official website, wwww.britneyspears.com, says the following:

"Dear fans,
The time has come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know all is well. Thank you for your hopes and prayers.
Love, Britney and Kevin"

In a letter she wrote in November, Britney said "A lot of people think you should wait till you're older to have kids. I've had a career since I was 16, have travelled around the world and back, and even kissed Madonna! The only thing I haven't done is experience the closest thing to God, and that's having a baby. I can't wait!"

Her husband Kevin Federline, whom she married on September 18, 2004, already has two children with with Shar Jackson, his former girlfriend. But Britney, a first time mother, is clearly very excited about life as a mum: "To be a really good mom, I feel your child needs to be your full-time job. I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them, and not rely on nannies."
