Battlefield 2: Special Forces Expansion Pack Review
First there was BF2, allowing players to jump into a superb world of real-time strategy and combat. Now comes special forces, giving players a chance to fight in the globe's most elite Spec Ops teams. Unlike Battlefield 2 the game is not a blatant shoot out, with victory going to has the most jets in
the sky and tank parked by the victory points. In Special Forces you must utilise, all new vehicles, weapons and tools in order to out smart and in turn, crush you opponent. The most important items added are to grappling hook and zip-line. Each giving you the excellent ability to master almost any terrain that the game throws at you!
But sadly it doesn't. I was expecting each map to be filled with surprise and stealth, with plenty of points to make the most of your new equipment. Instead, I find myself able to grapple up walls that I could easily walk round and zip-line off buildings, when it would be quick to take a ladder...

Yep, these new "Deadly Tools" as the game puts it, are nothing more than cool tricks that serve no purpose in actually fighting your foes... (Look on the
bright side, you can use the zip-lines to hang up drying laundry!)
Also "storm into battle" the "new" attack copters in the game, which are no different to the Battle-copter from the original... "Yes EA, a lick of paint here and we could just pass this off as new content"! As for weapons, there's nothing new other than tear gas, which is actually pretty damn effective when used on urban maps, but can be countered with standard issue
gas masks. Many of the maps playability life seem pretty low too. After about five to ten minutes of each map, you'll be bugging the admin to change levels and as will the majority of people on the sever. Its a pity they manged to integrate all the old BF2 glitches but couldn't integrate, the old
"original" maps into the expansion as it probably would have worked better than the designed maps. After playing it I have two major questions for EA?
>Firstly, was this expansion really worth making? To be honest I could have
>just downloaded a few custom maps and a weapons mod of the net, and
>probably got as much fun is not more, of free...
>Secondly, how does this little content take up over 1.5Gb on my hard drive?
If your heart is set on still buying it, give it a few months for the price to fall and so EA can release a patch to remove many of the errors and problems with the game...
