The winners of the ‘Bebo’s Big Think’ – Sex. Worth Talking competition headed to London for a ‘Girls Night In’ at the luxurious Hotel Russell and a ‘Boys Night Out at the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, hosted by MTV BASE presenter, Zara Martin. They finished the day at the Dizzee Rascal and Lily Allen concert at the O2 Arena.
‘Bebo’s Big Think’ – Sex. Worth Talking About, wanted to know what teens had to say about sex, sexual health, contraception and relationships. Tens of thousands of people visited the site on Bebo and told us the most useful conversation they’ve ever had about sex and relationships.
A total of 6 winners were chosen from across the country to come to London and be filmed on a ‘Girls Night In’ at the swanky Hotel Russell and a ‘Boys Night Out’ at the stylish Bloomsbury Bowl. The girls were joined by sex and relationships guru, Anita Naik and the boys were joined by uber-experienced media professional, Lawrence Lartey to facilitate the conversations.
Agony Aunt, Anita Naik said: “Being able to talk about sexual health and relationships in a confident and open way is an important life skill people need to help keep them safe and healthy, so it’s great to see young people talking with such openess. Hopefully this video will encourage others to do the same and trigger some worthwhile conversations about sex.and relationships”
Celebrity host, Zara Martin, said: ‘It's great to be involved in something that gives young people a voice, especially on sex and relationships which can often be difficult to talk about and isn't discussed as much as it should be.’
The ‘Sex. Worth Talking About’ campaign is supporting this next phase of ‘Bebo’s Big Think’. The campaign aims to help young people get talking around the subject of sex so that they can get the advice and information they need to make more informed choices about sex, contraception, looking after their sexual health and avoiding unintended pregnancies. The campaign shows how easy, everyday and normal it is to have discussions about things like contraception and chlamydia testing between partners, parents and health care professionals.
Bebo’s Big Think was launched in July 2009 and has to date seen over 55,000 young people join in various debates at the independent youth-led online forum. Bebo’s Big Think – Sex Worth Talking About follows on from the incredibly successful Bebo’s Big Think - Take Your Ideas to the Top where a group of young people made history as the youngest individuals to address Cabinet with innovative and practical suggestions on how to make a positive difference on crime, careers and climate.
