A lot of us know about the sinking of the Titanic. Here's a bit of history for you! On the 14th April 1912, the Titanic hit an iceberg at 11:40pm and sank on the 15th April at 2:20am on the Atlantic Ocean. A lot of people died during this disastrous event.

In 1997, 20th Century Fox Pictures and Paramount Pictures decided to re-enact the sinking of the Titanic.

This 3 hour film follows the love story of Jack and Rose who meet on the maiden voyage of the supposedly, "unsinkable" Titanic. Jack is part of the third class group, who were treated unfairly by the richer people on the ship, whilst Rose is luckily to live in luxury in the first class section. This doesn't stop them being in love at all. Jack is on the Titanic because he won on a poker game last minute to go on the Titanic.

As the film follows on their love story, it eventually reaches one of the most horrible disasters in human history. The Titanic collides with an iceberg and turns Jack and Rose's love affair into a race for survival. I think it is amazing how the producers did the actual sinking of the Titanic. It really shows the horror and how petrified the poor passengers and crew were.

I don't know her name, but someone from my dad's side of the family was supposed to go on the Titanic, but was ill on the day. She was extremely lucky not to go on the Titanic and I think she was very shocked when she found out it sunk. Wouldn't you? Each time I watch this film, I always cry. It is a heart breaking film. It was a very popular film and won 11 Academy awards, including best picture.
