When the Grace children and their mother moved into their great aunt Lucinda's house they didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Jared and Simon are twins, but with total different personalities. Jared is a trouble maker , ever since his parents split up , but usually he is a normal boy. His twin Simon on the other hand is an animal lover and keeps two mice in a cage on his bed side table. There sister Mallory enjoys fencing and other sports. but really she is just a normal older sister. When the three young siblings find a different kind of alter behind a wall with dead bugs tied together, dolls heads , pieces of paper and burnt toy soldiers they are very shocked. This leads to Jared being put in a food lift, pulled up into a room with no door and being scared to death when he finds spine chilling notes. He then realises that they are riddles and tries to solve them. This opens a new adventure and life for the children, with unexpected twists and turns. I will not tell you the end but it is a really good book just like the others in spiderwick chronicles series.
