You Me At Six & Chiddy – Rescue Me
Well, straight off the mark you’ll see that the song is collaboration with a rapper called Chiddy Bang, and isn’t like anything the band have ever done before because of that notable contribution. Have they sold out? Personally I don’t think so, they’re bravely trying out a new direction, and it’s a great song that has the potential to do well in the charts. Overall, I really enjoyed the song, I thought it was very catchy, foot tapping throughout with an urge to just rock out .in the chorus. Out of ten, I’d give the song an EIGHT, and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking to update their iPod playlist!
‘Rescue Me’ is out on 13th February, with their album to be released later on in the year.
Sunday Girl – Stop Hey
Jade Williams, aka “Sunday Girl”, is a 21 year old singer from Hertfordshire, who is set to take the 2011 music scene by storm when she releases new single on February 6th. “Stop Hey” is an electro-pop track written by “Sunday Girl” herself and Jim Elliot, highlighting her musical talents. The song is very catchy and instantly likeable from the very first listen, in fact, you’ll find yourself singing along to the chorus before the song’s even finished! There are elements of the song that remind you of Ellie Goulding’s hit single “Starry Eyed”, which isn’t a bad thing, since that reached number 1 in the UK! Maybe that’s why Sunday Girl was chosen to support Ellie on her recent tour?! Thinking about it, I can actually imagine the pair doing a duet! Overall, I gave the song a great 9/10, and I really can’t wait to hear more music from this amazing pop newcomer! 2011 is Sunday Girl’s year, people!
“Stop Hey” is out on the 6th February.
The Jolly Boys – Perfect Day
The Jolly Boys are a mento band from Jamaica formed in 1955, with their first album released back in 1997, and since then, they’ve released another six. From their latest album, “Great Expectation” comes their new single, “Perfect Day”, but is it the perfect soundtrack for the cold, foggy days of February?!
Truthfully, this isn’t the type of music I usually listen to, but I saw it through to the end, and my initial reaction? This REALLY ISN’T the type of music I would usually listen to! I didn’t really care too much for this cover at first, but after a few more listens, something terrible began to happen. I began to like it! The track is something of a grower, a bouncy remake of a classic track, but dwells in an area of music that has a relatively narrow audience appeal and that few have even heard of. Overall, I’d give this song a four out of ten.
“Perfect Day” is out on the 12th February.
