Simply Cinderella

Posted by Guest Writer on Thu, 01 Jan 2009.

On the 30th of December at the Curve Theatre in Leicester city centre I went to see “Simply Cinderella”! Simply Cinderella is a modern day fairy-tale, set in modern day England, and deviates from the more conventional and traditional version of events as we know.

Cinderella’s (Savannah Stevenson) mum has died and she now lives with her step-mum and her two ugly sisters, Coral and Pearl, who want to make a girl band. With no chance of going anywhere, Cinderella makes a pair of shoes, and with some help from her mother, who is dead (yes, I know! Stick with me on this). Also Cinderella’s mum used to sing at the old Cinderella ballroom which is on the same site as the shoe factory where Cinderella works.

With some help from her mum, Cinderella goes to a ball and falls in love. Unfortunately, the ball is back in the year of 1939 (yup, bit of time travelling thrown in), and she meets a man called Jack and they fall in love. Will Cinderella stay in the year of 1939? Will Cinderella and Jack live happily ever after (or have they already done so)?

Simply Cinderella is aimed at all ages old and young. I think both girls and boys will enjoy this. It was a very enjoyable show and I was very impressed! It was definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone!
