When former marine scout sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) left his job after watching his friend die he retreated to a secluded mountain range for some time alone. Until a retired Colonel Isaac Johnson (Danny Glover) turns up and tells him that an assassination on the United States president is about to happen. The Colonel requests Bob’s help and expertise to stop the assassin. With Bob’s patriotic nature he solemnly accepts the job but he does not realise it is a trap to set him up as the assassin.

As the president is shot at Bob is in a race against time to escape from the FBI and clear his name. With the help of a woman (Kate Mara) and a newbie FBI agent (Michael Pena), who believes he is innocent, Bob uses his marine training to catch the very people who gave him those skills.

This film shows a cunning set up by the powerful men of America as one struggles to uncover the truth. This is one of the films were you are preying the bad guy gets it in the end as you will on the good guy to kill anyone who gets in his way. Definitely a film to enjoy with your friends over a tub of popcorn!
