On the 16th November 2008, Scouting for Girls played at Nottingham Trent FM arena. We got there very early, after travelling by train and walking to get to the front of the queue. We were just so excited, soon we’d be a few metres away from them. The queue behind us grew and grew and the crowd got bigger. Finally, after what seemed forever, the doors opened and we got let in. We rushed to the front, as we were standing. Music from the speakers played, and it all got very exciting and a lot of tension built up as the atmosphere around me crowded. The drum kit on the stage was so sparkly and lovely I just wanted to go and hit those drums!

Soon, the first of two support bands began playing. His name was Sam Beaton, and he was rather amazing. He got us to create a massive Mexican wave with the light of our phones and we watched it on the two big screens, it was a great sight. He interacted well with his audience, us, and began to build up the scenery of what was going to be a great night. He sang and played a few songs and before long, everyone was smiling, having a laugh and a really good time.

The next support band, called The Days followed on. These were also really amazing. Their music was just so brilliant and it got all of the audience on their feet, jumping and screaming. And, some of the moves they had were quite a laugh too, for example, one of the band members looked like a chicken when he walked across the stage, it was very amusing for us. But it got our smiles turning into laughs and they were very successful with the crowd.

Finally, the ones we had all been waiting for, Scouting for Girls entered the stage. They had their piano on stage, it was all shiny, massive and white, it looked like it must have cost a fortune! A massive screaming noise filled my ears and I don’t think I have ever screamed so loud myself. The crowd were completely mad. They came on stage whilst singing their first song of the night... James Bond. It was truly amazing. I have never seen anything like it before, the atmosphere was wild. They sung lots of their songs, but they didn’t really need to, because the crowd were singing for them too. Half way through, we got a beer shower, because someone was throwing beer around, it smelt, and made us smell too, but it cooled us down a little. And then they taught us a new song, that had not come out yet, that they were bringing out in memory of this tour. The performance was actually so good, there are really no words to describe it. I didn’t want it to end. They finished with the well known song ‘she’s so lovely’ which finished the night well. However, when it did end, the audience were screaming ‘we want more, we want more’. But then the doors opened, people rushed out and none of us could really hear much apart from a long buzzing noise. It was a funny feeling really.

I would certainly go again, hopefully next year and Scouting for Girls’ music live is definitely much better than the edited songs. I will never ever forget this performance, it was just so incredible.
