I browsed the “Myspace” site of My Jaded Hero and learnt that they have one of those annoyingly quirky sounds that you can’t help but hum along to. You’re never quite sure if the vocals are on key or off key, but for some strange reason they just sound right (reminds me of Kristin Hersh).

So in the run up to the highly popular and successful Supersonicboom event to be held in June at Willow Park, it was the Jitty’s mission to interview this popular local band. Sadly not all of the them were available so I don’t know what they sound like live, and can only go no what I’ve heard through their Myspace website, but nonetheless, Luce and Nick turned up as promised.

Nick

My Jaded Hero formed in 2005, with all of the members attending Guthlaxton College, and in good tradition started out with likeminded friends getting together. The first question I ask, “How did your name come about?” Nick is very candid and explains that they had thought of loads of possibilities, in fact too many, to the extent they were getting tired of it..almost jaded. So after a browsing of the internet (I’m spotting a trend here!), the name “My Jaded Hero” was agreed upon.

They used to practise at “Big Wheel” but have since moved to Stayfree where they practise once a week, and cite their influences as Tsunami Bomb, Fall Out Boy and Amber Pacific. My Jaded Hero have played at a variety of events, including a gig in Glastonbury, but have always enjoyed playing at The Charlotte in Leicester due to “it’s great atmosphere and lovely crowd”

However, they haven’t always been as confident as they are now, and they remember very well how they felt at their very first gig at The Shed, “We were so nervous, and couldn’t see the crowd!” In stark contrast, and after perfecting their act, their last gigs at The Shed and The Attik went extremely well with the audience responding very well.

A busy schedule looms for the band where they are planning a tour of the UK in August, along with attending the Supersonicboom event in June, and we wish them every success.
