Miley Cyrus - The Time of Our Lives

American pop singer, songwriter and television / film actress, famous for the Hannah Montana franchise, released her third “album”, The Time of Our Lives, late 2009. Released in the US as an EP, because of the edition of the track “The Climb”, the “International” edition has a play length of over 30 minutes and as such, it’s considered to be an album.
When I first turned this C.D on, I skipped straight to my favourite Cyrus track, The Climb (written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe), just to get me in “the mood for Miley”, as it were. Due to a number of cover versions, most notably the most recent Joe McElderry version, this track has been extremely popular over the last few months, and is one of those tunes you can’t help but sing along to. Love the lyrics to this song; they really are “feel good”. 10/10.
However, the less well known songs were a bit of a disappointment, as I felt there was nothing individual about them, and they all sounded pretty similar. On the other hand, I like how Miley’s voice is no longer that sweet little songbird; it’s gone a bit more edgy, more suitable for my age group, rather than primary school. This appears to be more the case for tracks such as "Kicking and Screaming," "Talk Is Cheap" and "Obsessed", all of which show a more mature side to Miley.
Overall, I would give the C.D 6/10, because although I love some of the songs, the others just don’t live up to her usual high standards.
