Ok, so I went to see this to keep my little Bro happy - but hey, it's a laugh if you like Toy Story, Finding Nemo and that sort of thing...
Madagascar is based around the adventures of four animals who are shipped away from their zoo home in America. They find themselves washed up on the sunny island of Madagascar! They meet new friends and have a bit of a party on the island, until oh no! The lion's hunger gets the best of him and he turns predator (Remember, the film is a PG so don't worry ;-) and the others go looking for him when he runs away...
I won't give away the ending. What I will say though, is you'll probably reach for another handful of popcorn when the film finishes, for 2 reasons...
1. the entire film is surprisingly short, so you will probably still have popcorn left
2. it ends at an unexpected place!
But yeah, it's a laugh and a useful film to have on a rainy day.
Just as a useless bit of information for you, the penguins in Madagascar originated from a film that the director Eric Darnell was developing, called "Rockumentary". That film wassupposed to be about a Beatles-like rock quartet. Unfortunately that project was canceled and Darnell was moved to this movie (Madagascar). When that happened he incorporated the penguins into the script, changing them from musicians to military commandos. So there you go.
