Leicester Highcross

Well it was 10am and I was standing outside in the freezing cold along with the hundreds of other people eager to see Leicester’s brand new shiny shopping centre. YES, I spent the entire day in Leicester City Centre in order to try to capture some of the magic and STILL managed to miss most of the action.
For a start I had no idea what was going on and where. I knew about the river of silk… but wasn’t sure of its location. We were finally let into the Highcross at 10.10am via the Rackhams entrance and started to explore.
The first thing I thought when I was let loose was… Hey, this isn’t half bad! The design of everything seemed so clean; everything was so new and so… well shiny! There are now (Or soon to be) a total of 120 Stores and by far the biggest addition to the shopping experience is John Lewis - THE department stores of department stores! This store is the largest John Lewis in the midlands and around 3 quarters of the retailers situated in the store are new to the city.
What more can I say…
We are spoilt for choice! And not just in clothes stores but in places to eat out too. A welcome addition to Leicester’s restaurants is YO!Sushi and after just 10minutes of opening had a queue outside the door. For those who aren’t familiar with YO! Sushi- it’s a Japanese style sushi bar (Raw fish!) I have to say… I’m not one to try new foods… but I think this is one of the places I’ll have to try! There is also a swanky burger bar, noodle bar and another Nando’s to add to the list as well as a few more that will appear as the months go by.
I can’t possibly describe everything that I saw throughout the day so please take a look at some of the photo’s and videos… look out for the man who makes hats and the singing robot - they were awesome!!
Check it out - even if you're not one for shopping, it's worth a visit!
