On the 20th of January, at De Montfort Hall Leicester, the Johann Strauss Gala had arrived, preparing to satisfy its audience with a riveting performance. With a highly talented band of musicians and dancers, the gala was a night to remember. A beautiful mixture of music and dance captured and enthralled its audiences with delight, and drama. Each dancer perfectly captures the mood and atmosphere of the music, flowing with each note with ease.
Two especially memorable performances came in the form of the conductor David Juritz, whose witty banter amused the audience between performances, and Caroline McPhie, whose enchanting, yet powerful voice filled the entire room with the emotion of the moment. There is much to praise for such a group of highly talented performers.
With waltz's, polka's and operetta there were literally gasps of delight at the wonderful sights that befell us... it was so utterly different from almost anything I have seen this past year!. As much as I tried I couldn't take my eyes of the elegant moves and fun, enchanting music, I was entranced by not only the wonderful show, but by the hilarious banter from conductor, david juritz, with light jokes and fun facts about both the Strauss family and the gala itself.
With ** choreographer christopher hampson (personally a true hero of mine) having created some spectacular dances to entrance audiences of all ages, the johann strauss gala has truly outdone itself.
