Jersey Budd Interview
Posted by xxrosannaxx on Mon, 11 May 2009.
Hey, how are you feeling about kicking off your tour?
"I'm really excited actually... I can't wait! It's gonna be really exciting... we're gonna have a brass section, a violinist, a female vocalist, should be good. And I'll be back in Leicester later this month to support Kasabian."
Jersey (or, as he was then known, Joe) actually used to go to school with Kasabian's Serge and Tom, and played in a band with Tom's brother. He recently supported the band at their Royal Albert Hall gig for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
What's it been like supporting supporting Kasabian?
"Absolutely great, I mean, I know them "like that", and used to tour with them in my old band. We've sort of grown up together, in Countesthorpe."
Describe your music in three words...
"Raw, direct... and soulful"
Are you looking forward to playing Big Session this June?
"Yeah, I can't wait to play there... it should be really nice and chilled out. I think I'm on stage just before Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds right? Should be good...I've never played on the stage at DeMontfort Hall before, but I guess I will be later this month with Kasabian. Oooh, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Billy Bragg on the Saturday night."
Jersey Budd's debut album Wonderlands is out to buy now and he has tour dates planned for the next two months.
