Ice Age 3

Starring: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg

After two films being released, Blue Sky Productions have now released their third installment; Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis Leary) and Ellie (Queen Latifah) return for a new action packed adventure along with Crash (Seann William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck). Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby; Diego is losing his saber tooth cat instincts and Sid yearns for a family of his own and adopts three “abandoned” eggs, what could possibly go wrong!?

Ice Age 3 Scratte
It’s a hugely popular and polished franchise, with instantly likeable and recognisable characters, with the welcome addition of a one eyed weasel called Buck (played intriguingly by Simon Pegg), some dinosaurs, and a plot reminiscent of a 1950’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” B movie. That’s right, Sid discovers a lost colony of dinosaurs.

With this third film in the Ice Age saga you wonder if perhaps it’s gone too far. The story line wasn’t as great as the two previous films; gone are the eco-warrior real world references to global problems (perhaps the directors/producers may have been struggling for ideas since the second film was supposedly “The Meltdown”). Another problem, one word, Dinosaurs. Every film director recognises that dinosaurs are a sure fire hit for plastic toys etc for little kids, but combination of Dinosaurs and Mammoths in the same “time” is sure to have Professor types the world over scratching their beards and staring at their geological time charts on the walls of their offices.

Within the “plot”, thankfully, there are some appearances made by Scratte and his quest for the ultimate acorn. However overall, none of this will matter as Ice Age 3 will still appeal to younger audiences, who will have their parents in tow willingly or not!
