As an all round first gig, brilliant. Who am I talking about? "Glory For a Dead Man", an up and coming Leicestershire hardcore band. Their choice of venue for their debut gig was the Sound House a place that looks like a combination of hardcore venue and a pub off a music video. The place was full of young people ready to bang their heads.
The first act came on, Cassius Povey, who I had a quick word with before he went on stage. Brilliant guy. He did a load of covers from such artists as Tenacious D to Pink Floyd. As a solo act he was exceptional. He did seem a little nervous at first but those nerves disappeared pretty quickly and he did a great job in warming up the crowd. Next up were "Unknown Bullet". The mosh pit started to bulk. The heads were banging and bodies were bashing! Full of energy, fused with the musical talent, they did great. The way they did the screamo version of the song 'Gay bar' was most certainly a crowd pleaser and they definitely set the scene for the main performance.
As Glory for a dead man set up, there was a call from the audience, and jut as soon as they were ready they burst into song straight away. Frontman Rory wasn't always on stage either! He burst into the mosh pit, getting in right amongst the audience. He was a strong performer. The way he sang was mind blowing. He kept on going, not stopping. He used all his energy to make the night happen for the people in the Sound House.
More and more people got involved, even a dreadlock came off! The song that cried out the most was 'I am Bane'. I am a huge fan of Batman; they caught the Bane character in a song perfectly. There was the usual onstage banter between the band too. Glory ended up doing a great Paramore cover. An all around great night, I will definitely be attending their future gigs.
