Chris Moyles; The Parody Album

Chris Moyles, Radio 1’s longest serving breakfast presenter, has released his own CD – although it may not be the CD you may expect any artist to release, except for Moyles of course! His “Parody Album” features songs previously played on BBC Radio 1’s Chris Moyles Show, but also 6 new titles!
The album is a breath of fresh air! With most songs now being depressing and discussing life’s hardest times, Chris’s songs are something that only he would get away with – the songs could even be found offensive by some if they were not wrote in the “jokey” style. The album opens with a track called “My Parody Album” in which Moyles actually sings about the stressful time he had in writing the track. The second, “Lorrydriver”, discusses a lorry driver’s typical day in a humorous manor. The soundtrack to lorry driver is actually the same one as used by Britney Spears in “Womaniser”, however Chris has changed the lyrics and the odd thing is, it actually sounds like a track you could expect to hear in the charts! The next song titled “Meat (Yes, meat not meet) Again” explains a man’s blues as he finds out that his girlfriend as decided to be a vegetarian. JLS fans will automatically notice that the song is based around JLS’s well known song “Beat Again”. Weirdly, not only does the song’s lyrics say how the couple cannot go to Burger King, eat sausage rolls etc – it then goes on to talk about the man’s chiropodist not treating his feet anymore. The track ends with Moyles saying that he needs the toilet. The last 2 lines being, “I really really have to go, I think it’s over I can... go”. Track 4 features the soundtrack of Leicestershire formed band, Kasabian – “Fire”. The track is called “Liar”, in this album however. The lyrics are simply obvious lies.
Moving on a bit, Track 9 is called “Album Track” and also features Comedy Dave. The track’s lyrics are very cleverly written (take a look at them). The great think about the track, apart from it being so funny, are that it is like a typical “fill in” track in lots of albums. The lyrics even state that “It would never be a single” and unfortunately, it is correct for lots of tracks that artist’s stick in an album – in the future, they may as well just put this one in, save them a bit of time in writing some lyrics!
Skipping another track, the next one I’m going to talk (actually one of my favourites) about is “Nana Window”. The songs catchy tune makes you completely skip the lyrics the first couple of times, but the lyrics are actually really funny and true to a stereotypical lifestyle of a Nana. The next song (another favourite of mine) features the soundtrack to “I Predict a Riot” by Kaiser Chiefs, instead Moyles’ version of the song is called “I Predict a Diet”. Again the song has very jokey, I could discuss each track but the main thing to know for each track is that they are all very jokey!
So, worth a buy? Definitely! As I said before, The Parody Album is a breath of fresh air in albums at the minute! There are a lot of lyrics that will make you laugh, and cheer you up if you are feeling a bit depressed. The only thing that I found disappointing about the album is that a lot of Chris’ best parodies which were on Radio 1 are not included with this album (A whole new bra, for example). Although saying that, there are plenty of tracks included with this album – and I am definitely a satisfied customer!
