Boxhead 2Play Rooms is an add on to the original game Boxhead. This version allows you to play the game either one player or in co-op mode. So this means that you can team up with your mates and play the game with twice the fire power. The aim of the game is to kill zombies and devils (what else?) over a set of levels which seem to be never ending. As you progress through the levels and get your powerups, you are then able to choose from a range of weapons and also use a range of different powerups.
So the game doesn't get too repetitive you are able to select between 4 different charactors, Bambo, Bind, Bon & Bert. You can also play the game at 3 different difficulties of level over 18 different rooms. Once unlocked there are 10 different weapons that you can use, these range from a pistol to a shotgun to anything like a minigun to a rocket launcher. You can also set up turrets that you can place anywhere on the map and then have barricades around them to defend them from attack from the zombies and devils.
The graphics are not the best, but this doesn't become a problem as your mind tends to be concentrating on surviving and killing the enemy.
To navigate your character around the map, it's fairly simple as the controls are basic and possibly use the same for other games of similar type. To move around you use the arrows keys and when in co-op mode, player two uses W,A,S,D keys. To fire your weapons on single player you use the space bar, but when you are playing co-op mode player1’s fire control is the / key and player 2’s is the space key. When changing your weapons in single player, you need to use the number keys to change your selected weapon. Co-op mode is slightly different as you can only change your weapon one by one instead of directly selecting your weapons, for player1 the keys are . & , and for player2 the keys are Q & E.
When I played the game for my first time I found it very easy to pick up the idea of what to do, as you are basically just moving around killing the enemy and avoiding being killed yourself. The colours used on the start menu are very clear and not too striking which is quite good. After playing it a few times I then started to progress through the levels and starting unlocking better weapons to use, once I had unlocked the minigun I then started to enjoy the game more as more enemies started to attack me, so I could just run around and gun (bwuhahaha), also, when I started unlocking the turrets it started to make you think more about what to do, as you need to place you turrets down and then protect them with barricades and then also defend yourself by taking care of the zombies etc which were following me. It started to become a bit too hetic and I started dying a lot more often. But with the game having a co-op mode you would then be able to get a friend to help you out and you could work as a team to try and progress futher through the game. Once you have died you are then able to sumbit your score onto a online leaderboard see where you compare with other players from across the globe.
The game can become a bit repeative after a while, but I would definitely recommend for a quick blast when you have a spare period. The game may not be suitible for younger children as there is some blood shown whilst being shot by the weapons.
