What does 2010 hold for us in film?

Posted by Rhien on Wed, 30 Dec 2009.

Alice In Wonderland

With a year that held the likes of James Cameron’s exhilarating sci-fi epic Avatar, Frank Miller’s comic book sensation The Spirit, Heath Ledger’s final performance in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, as well as the tenth Disney Pixar film UP, take a breath and ask yourself what does 2010 hold for us. Here are some of the most eagerly anticipated:

Alice in Wonderland (Available in 3D)

The time old classic that is Alice in wonderland meets the unstoppable duo of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp: Whose combined powers have seen films such as the Edward Scissor Hands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd hit our screens with some considerable Burton style. Alice in Wonderland is a must see.

Iron Man 2

Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder, Sherlock Holmes) reprises his role as Tony Starky alongside one of Hollywood’s greatest Samuel L Jackson playing the role of Nick Fury. The original Iron Man continued marvels long run of making good superhero movies and I have no doubt Iron Man 2 will hold that up. Iron man 2 definitley looks this this summer’s block buster.

Tony Stark

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Team Edward (Robert Patterson) and Team Jacob (Taylor Lauter) are back for this penultimate film in the Twilight saga. I’d advise against biting the cardboard cutout of Edward because it can spread disease and its damn creepy. Disclaimers out the way get ready to get your vampire on! If you’re a twilight fan I’m sure you’re not going to miss this, Enjoy!

Toy Story 3 (Available in 3D)

Woody and Buzz are back! With the bucking cow boy doll played Tom Hanks ( Saving private Ryan, Forest Gump) and intergalactic space ranger Tim Allen (The Santa Clause, Wild Hogs) you know you’re in for same Toy Story magic. The ground breaking Disney Pixar also gets the full stunning and immersive 3D treatment. Toy Story 3 will no doubt be an instant hit and a must see family film.

Buzz And Woody 1

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Harry Potter is back at Hogwarts for the end, well, part one of the end of the much loved Harry Potter saga. All the originals Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) continue in their iconic roles which have made them house hold names. Can Deathly Hallows: Part 1 deliver the Potter magic? For any Harry Potter fan this penultimate movie is surely a must see!

This is just a sample of what to come. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year and with Avatar and Sherlock Holmes still playing at the Odeon there’s still plenty to keep you going for the rest of 09’ into the early days of 2010.
